2011: The Year in Review

» Posted by on Dec 30, 2011 in My travels | 14 comments

It’s been a great year. So, I thought I would post a final review of all I’ve been up to this year.

January

Well, January was mostly spent hunkering down indoors. There was many a 4-animal night on my bed.

February

I filmed my first ever book trailer with lots of help from friends far and wide and much cinematography help from my boyfriend.

March

Spring was in the air. I took advantage of the calm before the book launch storm to get out on a few warmer weather walks.

April

I spoke at some Pennsylvania libraries during National Library Week. My first official events as a published author. Very exciting!

With my official release date just around the corner, Popular started showing up in the wild. Check out this awesome display that the Clinton Book Shop put together for me:

May

May began with a bang. My book officially released on May 8, and I celebrated on Friday the 13th with a book launch at the Clinton Book Shop. It was so much fun!

Then it was off to New York City to finally meet some of my fellow members of the awesome and amazing Class of 2K11.

It was also the week of BEA aka Book Expo America, and my publisher Flux had me sign copies of Popular at the show. It was literally a dream come true.

June

There were more book promotion events keeping me busy in June.

But I’m also glad to report there was some time for relaxing, too.

July

In July I spent a lot more time playing outside, and I might have even squeezed in some writing time.

August

In August I was already looking ahead to next summer. I visited my old home town to shoot some scenes for the book trailer for Ferocity Summer. No, I have not yet managed to put that book trailer together, but soon I’ll get to it.

Then I took some time off and went camping on one very wet weekend.

September

September was a busy month with a trip to Maine for a wedding, book signings, and book festivals.

October

October was another big month for literary events including a trip out to Bradford and Tioga counties in Pennsylvania.

November

In November I got to meet up with some fellow members of the Elevensies for some book signing events including a mega book signing at Books of Wonder in New York City and YA-Palooza right here in Clinton, NJ.

December

I squeezed in one last book signing at the Barnes & Noble at the Neshaminy Mall with the fabulous KidLit Authors Club. It was an awesome event where I got to see an old high school friend who I haven’t seen in years.

Then there was just one more writing workshop to squeeze in at the New Brunswick Public Library, before I managed to take a break from my crazy schedule to enjoy a nice, relaxing Christmas.

I wish you all a happy and safe New Year. I hope my and your 2012 will be as fun as my 2011!
