Saturday was the big YA-Palooza event at the Clinton Book Shop here in Clinton, NJ. It was a blast. There was fun, food and plenty of picture taking. Here’s author Amy Holder taking a picture of me while I take a picture of her:
I got to catch up with some author friends of mine, and we all learned a lot about each other thanks to the author trivia game we played. I think the audience had a fun time guessing as well. I managed to stump them with a few of my author facts. Though sadly, they knew right away that I was the author who got a hideous perm in the sixth grade and nearly drove into a tree when learning to drive. In my defense, it was a small tree and learning to drive on an old stick shift BMW is less than ideal. All our guessers got to win some fun prizes.
Speaking of winning, you have your chance to enter a guessing game hosted by author Natalie Zaman. Natalie went around taking pictures of everyone’s feet on Saturday and now she’s challenging you to match them up with the different authors. Let’s just say some may be a little easier to figure out than others. (What is everyone’s insistence on wearing black shoes?) Anyway, right or wrong your guess will earn you an entry into a giveaway to win a big fat $100 gift certificate to the Clinton Book Shop, which you can use in person or online. That will certainly help you pick up a Christmas gift or two. You can enter by clicking here to visit Natalies’s blog and taking a guess at Whose Shoes are Whose?
Finally, if you are subscriber to my email newsletter check your inbox because this month’s issue should be there. I’m proud of myself for getting this one out ahead of schedule. This month’s issue includes details about my next book and an article on the dangers of having too many ideas. Even if you aren’t a subscriber, you can read a copy of my newsletter here. Of course, being a subscriber is the only way to get yourself in the running for a fun prize every month.

Alissa… I think learning to drive on an old standard BMW sounds like a slice of heaven. I learned in a Ford Cortina!
Well, my father (who was my passenger/instructor) did not think it was a slice of heaven! He still talks about that near miss with the tree.
