Back from PA

My long weekend in Pennsylvania has drawn to a close, and it’s time to return to the daily grind, but I wanted to give you a quick recap on my fun weekend. I dragged my boyfriend along with me for this trip since it was part work and part fun, though I enjoyed all the work I was doing on this trip.

The first stop was the Bradford County Library on Thursday night, where I had a great time talking to and meeting some fellow writers, book lovers and creative types.

Then it was on to Wellsboro, PA where we were staying. Wellsboro is a really cool old fashioned town that includes gaslit streetlights. We stayed at the Penn Wells Hotel which dates back to the 1800s and makes you feel like you have ventured back in time even if it does have modern conveniences like wifi and TV.

Friday was a free day, and we had plans to explore the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania (or as my boyfriend dubbed it, The Big Hole) just a few miles up the road. Unfortunately Mother Nature was not too cooperative. It was a cold, wet day. We did make it over to the Grand Canyon/Big Hole and it was kind of neat to look down into the fog and clouds below, but the rain and the cold temperatures meant we didn’t do too much exploring.

Saturday, was the Wellsboro BookFest organized by the super-friendly and super-energetic Kasey Cox of From My Shelf Books in Wellsboro. This fun event was held at the spiffy new Wellsboro High School. It was a beautiful building with an amazing view, which was almost as good as the foggy peek we got of the Grand Canyon on Friday. It was great chance to meet many fellow book lovers and writers. I had a blast!

The weather had been nicer on Saturday, and we were thinking it would be good to get in a walk before we headed back to New Jersey, but as soon as it was time to pack up from the book festival it starting pouring once again and we decided to head on home.
