Looking for something to do on a rainy weekend?

As I write this there is a big ole hurricane headed for the East Coast of the U.S. I feel for all those people in coastal areas who right about now are probably sitting in their cars on traffic-clogged roads as they make their evacuation. Lucky for me, I do not live in a coastal area, and despite the insane behavior I observed by folks in local stores yesterday around these parts Hurricane Irene will probably only deliver some extra rain and a little bit stronger than average wind. Good thing our camping trip wasn’t scheduled for this weekend!

Anyway, it is going to be an especially rainy weekend and you just may be looking for a fun indoor activity and something to do to while away the hours of cabin fever, especially if your cable or internet goes out, and have I got the perfect solution for you! Tomorrow, Saturday August 27 is the PAYA festival. This library fundraiser event is awesome not only because it raises money for libraries, but because it brings a star-studded lineup of YA authors to West Chester, PA. I am honored to be included in this illustrious group.

You can spend time meeting and chatting with some of your favorite young adult authors and get the chance to meet some new ones. Plus you can pick up some great new books to read so you have something to do when the cable goes out. The festival has made a slight schedule change due to the weather and will now run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The festival is located at 1585 Paoli Pike in West Chester, PA. If you can make it over, I’d love to meet you. I’ll be signing at 11 a.m. You can see a full line up and get more details at the official PAYA website.

  1. I am so glad to read that you’re not in harms way.
If I didn’t live sooooo faraway I’d be there! I LOVE libraries! I LOVE books! I love authors! :-) But I’m in very-hot-no-sign-of-rain So. Cal. If you’re ever signing books in my neck of the woods let me know. I’ll do my very best to be there! :-)

  2. Someday I will make it to Southern California, I’m sure, if only because I’ve never been there before!
